E-Invoicing under GST: Applicability, Process & Benefits
E-invoicing requires businesses to report B2B invoices to a government Invoice Registration Portal (IRP), which validates them and returns an IRN and QR code. It is being extended to smaller turnover bands over time.
Who Must Comply?
Applicability is based on aggregate turnover thresholds, which have progressively lowered. Businesses above the current threshold must issue e-invoices for B2B supplies.
The Process
- Generate the invoice in your accounting/ERP system.
- Report it to the IRP, which validates and returns the IRN and signed QR code.
- Share the IRN-bearing invoice with the customer.
Benefits
Auto-population of GST returns and e-way bills, fewer reconciliation errors, and faster input credit for customers.
Statura helps businesses become e-invoicing compliant and integrates it with ERP and GST filing.
