WPC & ETA Approval for Wireless & Electronic Products in India
The Wireless Planning & Coordination (WPC) wing regulates wireless spectrum in India. Products using Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or other radio frequencies usually need an Equipment Type Approval (ETA).
Which Products Need It?
Any device with a wireless module operating in de-licensed frequency bands — earbuds, smart devices, routers, IoT products.
The Process
- Confirm the device operates in de-licensed bands.
- Compile test reports and technical documentation.
- Apply for ETA through the WPC's SARAL Sanchar portal.
Alongside Other Approvals
Wireless electronics often also need BIS registration under CRS — plan both together to avoid customs delays.
