Importing Korean Electronics to India: BIS & WPC Requirements
Korean electronics — from earbuds to appliances — are popular in India, but they are regulated imports. Two approvals matter most: BIS registration and, for wireless products, WPC ETA.
BIS Registration (CRS)
Many electronics fall under the Compulsory Registration Scheme. The product must be tested in an Indian lab and registered before import — the Korean manufacturer registers through an Indian representative.
WPC ETA for Wireless
Products with Bluetooth or Wi-Fi need Equipment Type Approval from the WPC. Plan BIS and WPC together to avoid customs delays.
Labeling & Customs
- India-compliant labels with importer details and MRP.
- IEC and correct HS classification.
- CEPA certificate of origin to reduce duty.
